Fundraising for #BringBarleyHome: A Journey Toward Independence and Safety
Living with severe gluten allergies has made everyday life challenging. Barley, a labrador puppy in training to detect gluten, offers hope and independence. Her specialized training costs $50,000, and I need your help to make this dream a reality. Join the #BringBarleyHome campaign and help change my life.

For anyone navigating life with a hidden disability, independence can sometimes feel just out of reach. As someone with severe gluten allergies, the journey to regain control over my life is deeply personal—and it’s led me to a remarkable companion: Barley, a white labrador retriever puppy learning to be a gluten-detection service dog.
Barley won’t just be a pet; she will be a lifeline. Gluhostten cross-contamination has drastically impacted my health, limiting my ability to safely participate in everyday activities like dining out or attending social events. This adorable, furry ally will provide safety, peace of mind, and a bridge to a fuller life.
But here’s the truth: bringing Barley home requires significant resources. The cost of training a specialized service dog is steep—$50,000, to be exact. While the price may seem daunting, the benefits are immeasurable. Knowing that Barley can detect trace amounts of gluten in food and products is worth every penny.
That’s why I’m launching the #BringBarleyHome campaign, and I’d love for you to help make this dream a reality.

A Journey Toward Independence and Safety
Fundraising for a service dog goes beyond covering financial needs—it’s about building a community, raising awareness, and sharing the journey behind the need. It’s an opportunity to highlight the challenges faced by individuals with hidden disabilities and the life-changing support service dogs provide.
Through #BringBarleyHome, I aim to raise the funds necessary for Barley’s specialized training and create a platform that educates others about gluten allergies, service dogs, and the realities of living with hidden disabilities.
Many people face significant financial challenges when accessing service dog training and related resources. In fact, 60% of individuals cite cost as a major limitation, according to the Barriers to Service Dog Training Survey (2020). By addressing these barriers, we can help more people access the transformative support they need.
