Little did I know, that decision would unravel into a mad dash to urgent care, a stark reminder of the fragile balancing act that is living with severe gluten intolerance.

A moment of clarity emerged amidst tears and anguish in the dimly lit examination room. I couldn’t continue living in constant uncertainty, where something as simple as a salad could become a health emergency. Then, I recalled a heartwarming Facebook reel of a dog skillfully detecting gluten in various products. The seed was planted: I needed a gluten-detection dog.

With the tireless support of my mother, a retired librarian, we embarked on a meticulous search. Our quest led us to Snow Pines White Labs in Arizona, an organization renowned for its meticulous breeding and training of detection dogs. After an informative conversation with Mr. Gary Sevier and poring over the wealth of information on their website, I was convinced. This wasn’t just about finding a pet but securing a guardian for my health.

The Realization

The journey to welcome Barley, my future gluten-detection puppy, is officially underway! Barley’s litter arrived on November 1, 2024, and with my 10% deposit, I’ve secured my place to start the selection process for my perfect pup. However, turning this dream into reality comes with a significant cost of $50,000, inspiring me to launch a heartfelt fundraising effort to make it happen.
